Not that anybody asked or was wondering, but I just felt like sharing how I generally go about drawing the torso, arms, and hands. I'm not trying to teach anything as I am still learning a lot about anatomy myself (plus this was drawn in my "less serious" style in which proportions aren't always correct).
It's not too detailed or anything, but you get the general idea. The face is the only thing I draw without guidelines. For short comics, though, I just wing it and draw everything straight out without guidelines unless a particular pose refuses to cooperate with me.
Normally the process involves a lot more frustration and endless tweaking (that little arm switch up there is an example)...but I figured this'll do for now. And yes, when I can't figure out what to do with someone's arm/hand, I just have the hand rest on their hip... >__>;

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
To help support the Literature community we hold regular contests. It is an opportunity for you to get involved and gain some exposure. Contest winners will be featured in a news article and a journal entry--as well as other fabulous prizes. Please read this article for more information on how you can participate!
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
